BOTY 1978 & 2006
The BOTY trophy is called the “Dave Leslie BOTY Award”. Dave was a guaranteed quartet man and chorus singer; always ready to help the chapter in any way he could.
Who is a “Barbershopper Of The Year”? He is a current chapter member who has contributed substantially to the good of the chapter, usually over and above the requirements of just “showing up” on Meeting night. He may or may not have held chapter office. He may or may not have already been given this award, and may have received it in another chapter. Selection is made by secret ballot by previous winners of this prestigious award.
The BOTY committee this year submitted seventeen different names. This means we have many chapter members who are recognizable by their actions.
Our Barbershopper of the year is your typical, hard-working, dyed-in-the-wool kinda guy, who gets involved in most aspects of our hobby. He is well-liked by the community and is acknowledged as a leader. He has held chapter offices. Although he has his fingers in many pies, he does not “do risers”.
We could go on and on, but it is time to introduce our Barbershopper Of The Year, Mr David Updegraff!
