Tortilla Flats

Tortilla Flats was formed twelve years ago. Leon and Bob are originals. Don has been with us for ten years and Dick just joined us recently. He is tenor number nine in a long line of tenors. We once considered changing our name to Tenor-Of-The-Month Club. We have sung as far north as Burley, Idaho, as far east as Virginia, and as far south as Mexico. In 1998 we performed in England, and have been invited to return in September, 2001.

Our name originally was Tortilla Fats (we started with two 300 pounders). Since our first rehearsal was on Christmas Day (what else would anyone do on that day) and Noel spelled backward is Leon, we decided to knock the "L" out of Leon, add it to our name and become Tortilla Flats and therefore last for an eon.

Tortilla Flats in real life consists of:

Bob - Baritone - Retired metallurgist. Bob has three adult children who, unfortunately, inherited their singing ability from their mother who, in her prime, was a monotone bass. There is however hope for barbershopping in the next generation. Daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law-to-be are singers and all three grand children are very talented (naturally). Runs for exercise.

Dick - Tenor - Retired. Sang with Manhatters for 12 years. Walks for exercise.

Don - Bass - Blind man. No, there is nothing wrong with his vision, he sells, installs, and cleans blinds, ultrasonically. No, that doesn't mean he can sing tenor. Has three daughters and a two-year-old son, all of whom are singers. Well, we're not sure about the son yet, but he has healthy lungs. Rides a Harley for exercise.

Leon - Lead - Semi-retired, works for a courier company, couriering. We're not sure, but we think that means he combs horses. Is allergic to exercise.
