What the judges are looking for, OR:
The One Hour Convention and Contest

Track 1: Grow Your Skills- Guadalupe Room

Vowel Matching is a key to making your quartet sound better, a lot better. Come learn and experience what this technique will do for you. (Ray Rhymer: 1 hour)

Vocal Production is general instruction, followed by individual coaching for several volunteers while the less adventuresome watch and learn. You’ll learn how to produce the best sound along with how your vocal apparatus really works. (Bill Pearson: 2 hours)

Track 2: Sing For Fun - Solon I Room

Harmony For Lunch Bunch is the way to launch the weekend. Meet your many friends there and make some new ones. Join the crowd in group singing. Form a quartet and sing. Bring your quartet and perform. And good food too. Join us at Harry's Hofbrau at 390 Saratoga Ave, San Jose. From I-280: Take the Saratoga Avenue exit and head North-East. Two blocks on the right is Harry's Hofbrau. If you get to Steven's Creek Blvd you've gone too far.

Woodshedding is the original way barbershop was sung and you can do it too. Our AHSOW team will demonstrate woodshedding and coach you on how to get started. Then they’ll give you the opportunity to show you can do it and join this society within a society. (AHSOW team: 1 hour)

Tag Singing, led by one of our popular tag meisters, is just pure fun. And it will help tune you up for the whole weekend. (Jim Crowley, 1 hour)

Chorus Sing-a-long is just that. Singing song after song for the joy of joining your voice with others. (Kristen Taylor: 1 hour)

Track 3: Performing - Solon II Room

Sing with our Champs lets you step into the Hi-Fidelity quartet and perform a song with our current FWD Champs. (Hi-Fidelity: 1 hour)

Mic Tester Chorus Practice will get you warmed up, tuned up, fired up, and moving around, all set for launching the Chorus Contest Saturday morning. Don't miss the short wake-up, warm-up practice Saturday at 10am. (Jim Turnmire: 1 hour)

What the judges are looking for prepares you to better understand the contests this weekend. This is really a One Hour Convention and Contest. Right after our three certified judges explain their jobs, we'll have one of the competing quartets (HIT) sing a song and be judged. Then the judges will coach the quartet and they'll sing another song. Don't miss this fun, upbeat, headstart on the weekend's contests. (Lou Benedict, Nick Papageorge, Russ Young: 1 hour)
