The meeting was called to order by President Deane Scoville at 1 PM on June 9, 2001.

Nominations may be made from the floor as provided in Standard District Bylaws, Section 5.05 c.
2001 Long Range Planning Committee Report:
- All items will be taken under consideration and will be discussed in detail at the Fall 2001 BOD meeting, and the Long Range Planning Committee will be advised of actions taken.
Chorus Director Development:
- George Crosby of the Canada Del Oro Chapter was selected by draw to receive the scholarship to the Director's Seminar to be held in conjunction with Harmony College in St. Joseph, MO.
- The next CDWI class is scheduled for Fullerton on June 16.
Member Services:
- A new FWD chapter has been licensed in White Mountain, Arizona
- Harmony Awareness Week coming in September. All chapters have an opportunity to get involved in this exiting Membership event.
Young Men In Harmony:
- The annual Youth Camps are on track for the weekend of June 22/23.
- Youth Festivals planned:
- Marin - September 29.
- San Jose - October 20
- FWD College Quartets headed for International:Grand Avenue and Four Score
Events:
- Looking for bids for division and district contests beginning with 2002.
- An increase of $5 - $10 in division/district convention registration costs, beginning with the 2002 convention cycle, will be recommended to the House of Delegates
Chapter Support and Leadership Training:
- 2001 COTS:
- NorCal - 4 Points Sheraton - Pleasanton - November 10/11
- SoCal - Radisson - San Bernardino - November 17/18
- Chapter Coach Training will be held at both COTS locations.
- Top Gun sessions will be held in conjunction with SoCal COTS, beginning November 16.
Music and Performance:
- Harmony College West - August 24-26 - Cal State Hayward, Dean: Jim Crowley
- District Music/Performance Programs available for use by Chapters/Quartets
- Standing Ovation
- Quartet Promotion/Champs Coaching
- Chapter Reimbursement for coaching sessions
- Song Writers Guild

Marketing and Public Relations:
- WESTUNES is now on line. Look for it at www.spebsqsafwd.org . and watch for further developments.
- Look for a remake of FWD Website to make it more "user friendly".
- Look for a member survey to determine what can be added to conventions to make them more attractive for members.
Contest and Judging:
- 22 Judges/candidates are slated to attend category school in July.
- Reviewed the draw procedure for order of appearance, etc. at district contests.
Treasurer:
- The District is financially healthy.
- Convention revenues are trending downward financially, while expenses are climbing. Looking for ways to increase revenue and curb expenses. The main thrust will be in encouragement and incentives for increased attendance.
District Budget For 2002
- The FWD Board reviewed the current and projected financial status of the district and prepared the budget for the upcoming year. The details of the budget will be provided to the FWD House OF Delegates at the October regular meeting for discussion and approval.

The annual Summer Board Meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10.
