Harmony College West 2006

The deadline to sign up is June 21, so now is the time to register. We have a terrific line-up of classes at Harmony College West this year in Redlands, CA. You do not want to miss this opportunity to grow your skills. We'll have great air-conditioned dorms this year and a cool auditorium for the Saturday Night Show. The cafeteria is terrific and you can have it your way: low carbs, high protein, salad bar, hot dogs and hamburgers, etc. It's all there.

Quartets will be coached in a new "pod" system with four coaches working with four quartets. Each coach will focus on a specific area of Singing, Performance, Presentation, or Music.

The big news is that the Westminster Chorus will be performing Saturday night for us.

See your Summer edition of Westunes for the details or visit the HCW website.

100% Club

How would you like to not have to pay your society dues next year? Sounds good, huh? It's a society membership program and you don't have to fill in any forms. Just bring in 1 to 5 new members and for each one your society dues will be reduced by 20%. Bring in five and you'll join the 100% club as well as have 100% of your 2007 society dues forgiven. Note that District and Chapter dues may still be required.

Fall District Convention

It's time to mark October 5-7 on your calendar for the Fall District Convention in San Jose. It's also time to visit the Convention Registration Form and get yourself signed up.

As usual there will be plenty of classes on Friday so plan to show up early and get in on some fun singing. It'll warm you up for all that hallway singing that makes the conventions such a special place to be.

FWD Website Enhancements

The Far Western District Website continues to grow in content every year. If you haven't visited in a while you could be surprised at how much information is there.

The center of the home page is the NEWS page and new items are added at the top. Just read down until you recognize something you read before. Note the many links down the left and right side of the home page. All the current stuff should be in view. If your next chapter show is listed on the top right without any details, go to Calendar Update and fill in the blanks.

The online FWD Directory has several new features including the whole 50 Year History of the FWD. If you click on Chapter Information (Detailed) you'll find that every chapter has a webpage with tons of information including recent contest accomplishments. The District Quartet pages were recently revamped. Many of the Convention Honorees have the full text of their accomplishments listed. The FWD Champs Photo pages let you see our top quartets and choruses. Actually, there's way too much to mention. Just take a look.

Then there is the Members Only area. You will need to request a FWD password. Your society password doesn't work here. Once inside you will have gobs of info including a Members Directory. If you are a chapter or district leader you will also have a FWD District Officer Directory.

As with all collections of historical data, there will be errors and omissions. Your webmaster welcomes all corrections at webmaster@spebsqsafwd.org.
