The Membership Workshop was designed in response to the lack of a Membership track at COTS.

The Workshop is structured around the following premises:

1. It is a facilitated (not “taught”) session, during which a free and open flow of ideas, experiences, suggestions, methods, plans, etc. will be exchanged. Think of it as a opportunity to brainstorm with other members and/or chapters. The purpose is to come away with an understanding and appreciation of what it takes to grow your membership, and a workable plan.

2. It’s designed to be presented at any level – from a single chapter (perhaps for the BOD), to multiple (neighboring) chapters (perhaps Presidents, Membership VPs, Directors – anyone interested in sharing Membership ideas).

3. The Faciliator will be just that - someone skilled in leading discussions, with an appreciation and understanding of Membership issues. It might be someone from within your chapter, a Chapter Counselor, or a District officer. The program is designed not to instruct, but to elicit discussion.

3. It can be any length – I’d suggest a full day (weekend day), but it can be tailored timewise as appropriate.

4. It shouldn’t incur much - if any - cost. It can be held at someone’s house, or any free venue that can accommodate the attendees.

Pretty simple, really - but it can be a very effective means of getting your arms wrapped around issues related to Membership - recruitment, retention, member satisfaction, etc., and embark on the road to growth!
